Willkommen zu Wolfsburg

Piper at the Gates of das Volkswagen-Werk und die Autostadt , as viewed from the Haupbahnhof
One very important life-long duty of any practitioner of the VW arts is to spend months/years both in the VW trenches and in VW dream-time to prepare the heart/mind/soul trinity for this duty.  Once peace is found and the breath metered and freely flowing it is essential to make at least one hertzlich pilgrimage(s) to the Fatherland of all things Volkswagen: Wolfsburg, Germany.

Just yesterday I made my third such pilgrimage there and am very fortunate to currently find myself comfortably quieting down my VW fueled mind in Kassel, Germany at a family friend's house--with I might add full access to their 2006 T5 California model TDI 6-spd camper van (including free use today running errands around Kassel and camping 2 nights at their house).  It is rather nice as you might imagine.....  More on that later!

400k mile club

There certainly aren't too many 2000 Eurovans on the road right now in the US that are one or two big road trips away from crossing over to 400,000+ original miles--I had certainly never heard of a single one.  So when this beauty popped up with 394k on the ticker I couldn't pass up on the opportunity to purchase it on that merit alone and let my TDI dreams begin to kindle.

2000 Eurovan Weekender with VR6 eng (original) and auto trans, which BTW was replaced once at 45k miles under warranty and has been not been opened or serviced since according to the account and detailed records kept by the original owner.  This rig has certainly been blessed by the VW patron saint of longevity, Saint Wolfgang GΓΌnter von Hasen we'll call him.

One last spread eagle on its home turf and then time to hit the road to its new home!
