'99 Eurovan TDI conversion & manual trans conversion

Update from Fri: We got the intercooler install well underway and we did get the engine fired up, but opted to shut it down shortly after to investigate something that seemed off.  More on that once we've gotten to the bottom of it.

Intercooler install:
Stock '99 T4 TDI intercooler from Europe test fit on this 99 EVC.  This was installed just to check fitment and will likely be used on a later project.

That looks like a good place for a front mount intercooler....

Marking the IC location.

Installing jig for cutting out a straight hole.

FMIC hole cut, intercooler being fastened down.

  1. It looks great, you guys give me hope. I have been working in Europe as a contractor for the past 2.5 years and I own a 1998 T4 (EV) 1.9TD which I absolutely love. I thought of getting one upon my return stateside, but I wasn't too excited about the VR6 engine, so I started looking for conversions. That's how I found you. Providing I supply an AHU engine and the euro gearbox, what would you charge me for the conversion? I'll come help for free:))
What do you estimate the new HP will be and the mpg? Thank you
